Yuanling Primary School (YPS), a school with a long and esteemed history established in 1984 and located in the Yuanling Village of Futian District, Shenzhen, is a key elementary school with a beautiful environment, complete facilities, top level teachers and distinctive characteristics. Answering the needs of a growing community, the Futian District CPC Committee and People’s Government decided to merge Yuanling Primary School, Yuanxi Primary School and Yuandong Primary School into one large school in August, 2002. And in August 2012, it was independently run as to actively optimize the educational resources.
The school occupies 9443 square meters, serving approximately 1700 students in 30 classrooms, offering a comprehensive educational program within a caring and supportive environment. It is fully equipped with advanced teaching facilities such as stadium, library, science laboratory, computer room, music room, dance room, art room, print-painting studio, and other facilities designed for the students. It also boasts advanced campus network and management platforms for all the teachers and parents including the strong home-school link which is long established and built on a strong foundation of mutual trust and respect.

Since the establishment of YPS, a large number of renowned teachers have devoted themselves to teaching and accumulating rich spiritual and cultural wealth for the school. Its faculty of 101 is an excellent teaching team including many diligent teachers who respect and love their work with tremendous commitment and dedication. The school is optimizing course settings and opening second classes of many kinds besides basic courses, such as traditional Chinese painting, handwriting and instrument music which offer widespread space for students to develop their talents and self-confidence to show their personalities. In addition, YPS carries out colorful campus cultural activities, such as a regular annual English festival, arts festival, science festival and sports festival, etc.
The combination of solid basic education and colorful entertainment and interesting activities promote all-around development of student quality. In line with the holistic development of the students, YPS provides many opportunities offered by the school and outside the school for students to develop their nature by encouraging them to participate in competitions and activities. For the sake of continuously deepening the reform in teaching and fully improving teaching quality and attaching much importance to the cultural exchange with other countries, YPS has placed a great deal of emphasis on developing international mindedness and established friendly relationships with such countries and regions as the U.S., Canada, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. It’s well-known that print painting education is one of its characteristics. The print artists of Seattle, U.S. and Winnipeg, Canada visited its print painting studio several times and had technical discussions with the teachers and students. YPS attaches great importance to civic education as well. It focuses on the heart as well as the mind. High expectations for respectful behavior ensure a caring, safe and orderly learning environment. Civic education program teaches students about respect, honesty, responsibility, caring, and giving back to the community.
